Option 1 – Color: Comfort Colors! (Blue, Pink, Yellow) – I wanted to call attention to how STV is more than a clinic, but a home, a community of volunteers, providers, and patients, coming together to recognize how interconnected our social health is to our physical health. I represented this with the hands held around the heart on the back as well.
Option 2 – Color: (I would recommend a cream colored shirt with maroon lettering or navy lettering)i would recommend a cream colored shirt with maroon lettering or navy letteringI like the slogan on the st vincents website that states healing with heart, because it’s truly what the clinic is about. When we step foot into that clinic, not only are we making a promise to ourselves to provide the best care possible but we are also making a promise to the patients that come that we will treat them with the utmost respect and to the best of our abilities, hence the pinky promise on the front of the shirt. Everything we do to care for our patients comes from the heart which is why i wanted to include that on the back of the shirt.
Option 3 – Color: (White) My design for the ICOPE shirt was inspired by Keith Haring’s art style because his work has always centered on uplifting and drawing attention to marginalized communities, which feels closely aligned with what ICOPE represents to me. ICOPE has been a meaningful way to serve and learn from people in Galveston who are uninsured and unhoused, and I wanted the design to reflect that same message of visibility, care, and human connection.
Option 4 – Color: (Navy Blue) Universal design not limited to physicians to represent the collaborative nature of STV clinics and the interprofessional nature of ICOPE.
Option 5 – Color: (Sky Blue) ICOPE taught me that the humanity of medicine, how we learn it and how we practice it, is completely in our hands. I wanted to visually represent that message by placing a symbol of medicine within the universal symbol of love, carried by the hand of someone aspiring to heal with intention and grace.
Option 6 – Color: (Light/heather gray) Please note: Dr. Farr/Laurie Looper did not respond before the deadline with the year ICOPE started, so I will need to fill in the “”since [year]”” to finish it out. My inspiration came when I was thinking of the best visual representation of what ICOPE means to me. ICOPE clinics fill a tremendous need in the local health care system by providing a safe, non-judgmental space for people without insurance, documentation, or trust in other clinics to be seen, listened to, and cared for. Without this service, many would be lost to the large gaps in health equity that are a sad reality of our world.”
Option 7 – Color: (Black) I chose this design because it reflects what truly makes our student-run clinic in Galveston special: the island community and the people within it. The island skyline and heartbeat represent how deeply connected we are to Galveston itself; medicine here isn’t separate from the community, it moves with it. The image reflects the idea that we care for everyone who walks through our doors, including uninsured and unhoused patients, without labels or barriers. “Student-run. Community-driven.” captures our mission: students leading with compassion, guided by the real needs of the people.
Option 8 – Color: (Light Blue) I am part of the SUD clinic in the ICOPE program, and something that represents that clinic to me is the red doors of the church, where patients walk in for all sorts of services, be it social work, SUD Clinic, general care, or for general needs like the showers, cafeteria and bike repair. The words that are across the back are words patients have used to describe what the SUD clinic means to them. I think it is important to remember our impact on these patients and what the impact of our work is when coming to clinic.
Option 9 – Color: (Light Blue) The interdisciplinary nature of I-COPE involves a variety of professions (PT, OT, nursing, social work), all connected by serving the Galveston community in the best interest of the patient. This design uses the Galveston coastline as the foundation with a patient-centered focus, all other specialties along the horizon of the outline.
Option 10 – Color: (Gray, White, Red, Blue, Yellow) Many of our patients at I-COPE face instability in housing, access to care, or social support, and this clinic offers more than medical treatment. It offers safety and belonging. The design reflects shelter and support with the roof symbolizing stability. This design reflects the efforts that our volunteers, students, and providers to make St. Vincent’s Clinic a home.
Option 11 – Color: (Light Grey or White) My inspiration for this shirt stemmed from a simple, yet impactful design. The front of the shirt is to highlight utmb and icope. The back of the shirt highlights the icope slogan which i like plus the st vinvents emblem for my visual aesthetic. Most importantly, I included a frocket for functionality in clinic to be able to hold pins, paper, etc.
Option 12 – Option A – Color: (light grey or white) To me, I-COPE has been far more than a clinical learning environment; it has deepened my connection to the Galveston community and broadened my understanding of the healthcare gaps that exist within it. Through longitudinal care, I have had the privilege of building meaningful relationships with patients, which has been both humbling and profoundly rewarding. Most importantly, during the long and often demanding weeks of MS3, I-COPE helped me reconnect with my “why,” grounding me in compassion and reminding me of the purpose behind my work, even in moments of burnout.
