ALWAYS screen patients to determine if can afford their medications at Wal- Mart (see discounted list in this guide) or their preferred pharmacy.

 ALWAYS prescribe 90- day supply, unless a safety issue such as an ARB that requires lab follow- up.

ALWAYS provide enough refills with a cushion toget through next appointment, keep in mind waiting time until next appointment

1 year supply is often appropriate

We have limited grant funds, to ensure sustainability we must limit the provision of free medications to those that have the highest need. Explain to patient that due to funding issues, we can not supply all medications directly from St. Vincent’s. If medication is not available please check on how affordable it is at other places. Cheapest one is often WalMart Rx Program but make sure to check GoodRx and discuss pricing with patient.

Amazon Pharmacy: Delivers and with Prime Membership ($15 a month) and RxPass can get all meds on the list for $5 a month total. Check it out wth some of your patients as an option.
